*Tiered commission operates on a sliding scale, dependent on the price of your item
** Chairish Auctions (powered by LiveAuctioneers)
Platinum and Elite sellers use a tier-based, cumulative sliding scale, dependent on the price of your item. A cumulative sliding scale means that each item may be charged more than one commission percentage, depending on the lot's sale price.
- Amounts less than or equal to $2,500: 20% Commission
- Amounts between $2,501 and $25,000: 12% Commission
- Amounts greater than $25,000: 3% Commission
Using the scale above, if an item sold for $2,000, you would be charged 20% (because the sale prices is less than or equal to $2,500). Your total commission for the item would be $400. You would earn the remaining $1,600, which ends up being 80% of the sale price.
| Your item sells for: | $2,000 |
| 20% on $2,000: | $400 |
| Total Commission: | -$400 |
| You earn 80%: | $1,600 |
If another item sells for $15,000, you would be charged 20% on the first $2,500 (which would be $500) plus 12% on the remaining $12,500 (which would be $1,500). Your total commission for the item would then be $2,000 ($500 + $1,500). You would earn the remaining $13,000, which ends up being 87% of the sale price.
| Your item sells for: | $15,000 |
| 20% on the first $2,500: | $500 |
| 12% on the next $12,500: | $1,500 |
| Total Commission: | -$2,000 |
| You earn 87%: | $13,000 |
If another item sells for $40,000, you would be charged 20% on the first $2,500 (which would be $500) plus 12% on the next $25,000 (which would be $3,000) plus 3% on the remaining $12,500 (which would be $375). Your total commission for the item would be $3,875 ($500 + $3,000 + $375). You would earn the remaining $36,125, which ends up being approximately 90.31% of the sale price.
| Your item sells for: | $40,000 |
| 20% on the first $2,500: | $500 |
| 12% on the next $25,000: | $3,000 |
| 3% on the next $12,500: | $375 |
| Total Commission: | -$3,875 |
| You earn 90.31%: | $36,125 |
Chairish will pay you the Sale Amount, less Commission and any permitted reductions, and subject to the Shipping and Returns Policy (the resulting amount, "Final Proceeds").
"Sale Amount" means the sales price for which your item was sold or the price that we actually received from the buyer. This excludes amounts assessed on the sale (like taxes and duties), shipping and delivery costs paid by the buyer, transaction fees such as credit card transaction costs, and international and bank-wire fees.
"Commission" means the percentage of the Sale Amount paid to Chairish for your use of the Service. Your Seller plan determines the Commission percentage.
How and When Seller Plans Are Determined
When you first open your account, your seller plan is assigned the "Consignor" plan by default. When you reach 10 live listings, you'll automatically be upgraded to "Professional".
Once you reach Professional status, you may upgrade to a Premium or Plus membership.
If your account falls below 10 active listings, you will retain your Professional status for a 6-month grace period. Whenever your account reaches 9 listings, that 6-month timer will restart. If you do not reach 10 listings within that 6 months, your account will revert back to the Consignor plan.
If you upgrade your paid seller plan mid-year, you will receive credit for the unused billing cycles from your current subscription. This credit will be applied automatically once you upgrade your seller plan.
Note: Only high-volume sellers are eligible for Plus or Elite seller plans. Learn more by visiting our Consign with Us page.
