Below are some tips and tricks for running a successful shop!
Stay on top of your inventory - Keep your shop inventory accurate, and delist items promptly if they become unavailable. Finding out an item they've purchased isn't available can be incredibly disappointing for buyers! Also, uploading new products regularly keeps your potential buyers, and followers, checking your shop.
Continuously add new items - This helps you maintain a presence in our "New Arrivals" section, which is our most-viewed collection. From there, shoppers who like your inventory will branch off to your Chairish "storefront" and be exposed to your older inventory.
Offer free shipping - Items offering free shipping are more likely to sell, especially Art, Décor, and Rugs. If you’re able to ship the item yourself and bake the cost into your margin, we highly encourage you to do so.
Strategic Markdowns - If an items hasn't sold within 30-60 days, take a small markdown. Pricing your items a little higher than necessary will give you wiggle room to mark them down later. Chairish requires that markdowns be at least 10% of your listed price, so keep that in mind when pricing! Marking your listings down will also notify anyone who has "favorited" that item of the lower price, as an incentive to finally make the purchase! Beyond desirability we have found that the number one driver of sales is competitive pricing. Customers love it when they find an amazing piece at an amazing price. Marking an item down will also bump it to the top of its category as well as the "Sale" category, for extra exposure!
Be willing to accept offers - A significant percentage (more than 50%) of our transactions are facilitated through the Make an Offer feature, and at price points that are acceptable to both the Buyer and Seller. It's a great tool when used well by all parties.
Add Trade Pricing to your items - On average, Chairish sellers opt to offer Trade member an exclusive 20% off. This maximizes the visibility of your items to interior designers, who buy 4x as much as regular shoppers! Learn more here.
Brand your profile - Be sure to brand your profile with a background photo, profile picture, and a bit about your "brand". People like to know who they're buying from.
Promotion - Chairish offers a few tools to help you promote your shop- on the site and beyond.
Promoted Listings: Promoting your listings will get them featured more often than other items! This feature can be turned on from the Promoted Listings page of your account. To read more about Promoted Listings, click here.
Badges: Do you have social media accounts, a blog, or a website for your business? Utilizing our badges is a great way to direct shoppers from other sites to your Chairish shop. You can find HTML code for a variety of badges from the Seller Badges page of your account.
Instagram Promotion: Post your pieces to your Instagram Story and be sure to tag @chairishco for the chance to be featured to our audience of over 700K followers!
