Essential Listing Information
Listings are most likely marked incomplete because they need more information, more photos, or better photos. To avoid an Incomplete status and speed up approval, include the following essentials:
-
Maker’s mark, label, or signature: If your listing references a specific maker, provide at least one clear photo of the maker’s mark, label, or signature. This is required to confirm authenticity.
- Number stamps or serial stamps alone may not be sufficient to confirm the manufacturer. If a definitive maker’s mark/label isn’t present, please say so explicitly (ex. “unsigned” or “unmarked”) in the description.
- When a maker cannot be confirmed, add context to support your attribution and update the title, description, and the Styled After maker field, as appropriate.
-
Complete, representative photos for sets: For sets, include at least one primary photo showing the entire set fully visible in a single frame (ex. All 6 plates or all 8 pieces together).
- Close-ups and detail shots are great as additional images, but the lead image should show the complete set.
- Ensure the total number of pieces shown in photos matches what you are offering.
-
Quantity and configuration clarity: Your listing should represent a single configuration: a single item, a pair, or a set.
- Ensure the title, description, quantity field, and photos all reflect the same offering.
- If you have multiples and plan to sell them individually, either create separate listings, or (if allowed by the category) set the quantity accordingly and clearly note in the description that items are available individually.
-
Brand/manufacturer information: Brand or manufacturer information may be required, when known. Add it in the dedicated Brand maker field and reiterate in your description, if helpful.
- If the maker is unknown, select or enter “Unknown” for Brand and explain any relevant context in your description.
- Thorough descriptions: Put key item details (maker/brand, signed/marked/label status, total piece count, and configuration) in the Description field so buyers and curators can verify at a glance. Use photos to corroborate these details.
Common Causes of Incomplete Listings
Common reasons that listings are marked incomplete include:
-
Photos (Review our photo guide here)
- Photos are too dark
- Photos are too blurry
- Photos have flash glare
- There are not enough photos
- There are no photos of the actual product
- There are no photos of the product alone
- Need product in the frame of the photo
- Need more information about the product
- Need to break up a set of furniture
Depending on when your listing was originally created, you may need to complete a few extra steps on the listing form before you are able to save your changes. You will receive error messages to direct you to the new required fields that need your attention.
Re-Submitting Incomplete Listings
If our Curators review your listing and need additional information from you or need you to make edits to your listing, you will be sent a email with those details and your listing will be placed in an 'Incomplete' status.
You can find Incomplete listings on your 'My Listings' page when you are logged into your account. Any listing that has been marked as 'Incomplete' will need to be updated with the requested details and then re-submitted.
Click on the Edit link associated with the listing to make changes. The additional information being requested will be displayed at the top of the page.
Make the requested edits and then click the Submit button.
- If you checked the Unknown box for Brand/Artist/Designer/Styled After, you will need to uncheck that box in order to see those fields again.
Once the listing has been re-submitted, it will be reviewed again and is subject to the same review timelines as the original listing. You'll be notified via email as soon as your listing goes live!
