This article describes how sellers will receive requests to hold an item, and how those requests can be managed.
This article contains the following sections:
About Hold requests
Sellers often get requests from Trade Program members (designers) to put products on hold so that they have enough time to get approvals from clients. Allowing holds on your product listings will increase the likelihood that your item will be purchased by a designer.
Similar to how an offer can be made on any product, all products are eligible to receive hold requests. You always have the right to deny a hold request if you do not wish to grant this option.
- Designer initiated holds automatically expire in 48 hours.
- Holds are not available on multi-quantity listings.
- Trade Program members will not be able to submit hold requests to you if your shop is in Vacation Mode.
While your item is on hold, other customers will not be able to add the item to their cart or make any offers on the item. They will, however, be able to save the item to their Favorites. When the hold expires, the item will automatically be available again for purchase.
Reviewing Hold Requests
Hold requests will be displayed on your seller dashboard on your 'My Listings' page. Customer-initiated holds will automatically expire in 48 hours.
You can see which of your items are currently on hold, and when those holds expire, by navigating to the Active Listings tab on your 'My Listings' page and click on the On Hold button at the top of the page.
Personal Holds
As a seller, you also have the option to manually place one of your items on hold. You can place an item on hold by navigating to the Active Listings tab on your 'My Listings' page and then clicking the Hold link to the right of the applicable item.
A new window will open asking you to enter the date when you'd like the hold to end. Click on the Calendar icon to select the date and then click the Place Item on Hold button.
The hold will expire automatically on the date you selected. To end a hold early, navigate to the Active Listings tab on your 'My Listings' page and click on the On Hold button at the top of the page. Then, click the Release link to the right of the applicable item.
- The Release Hold link will not be available on items where the hold was initiated by the customer. Sellers must wait for customer-initiated holds to expire.
Troubleshooting
Customer Cannot Submit a Hold Request
If a customer contacts you advising they are not able to submit a hold request, please ensure your shop is not in Vacation Mode. Trade Program members will not be able to submit hold requests to you if your shop is in Vacation Mode.
The customer should also confirm they are logged into Chairish with the email address associated with their Trade account.
You will also want to confirm that the item in question does not have a quantity of more than 1. Holds are not available on multi-quantity listings.
If the customer is still unable to submit a hold request, you do have the option of manually placing the item on hold via your 'My Listings' page.
