This article describes how Trade Program members can purchase items at Net Prices (i.e. Trade Pricing).
This article contains the following sections:
What is Net Pricing?
Over 90% of Chairish listings feature a Trade Discount- available to members of the Chairish Trade Program. The result of that discount- the Net Price (or Trade Price) is displayed in bold under the listing’s title.
- Discounts are offered at the discretion of our sellers and vary from item to item. Please note that not all of our items have net pricing.
- Only registered Trade Members logged into their trade accounts can see net prices on Chairish. We reserve the right to change the list of items not eligible for the Trade Discount at our sole discretion without prior notice.
- Trade/Net pricing affects the item price only. Trade pricing does not apply to shipping/carrier fees, payment processing fees, etc.
Purchasing an Item with Net Pricing
Trade Members have two options when purchasing an item:
- Add to Cart: For items with “Net Pricing” displayed, the Trade Discount is automatically applied at checkout.
- Make An Offer: If you choose to "Make an Offer" that is lower than the displayed “Net Pricing” no "Trade Discount" will apply. The pricing may be more attractive, but this increases the chance that you lose out to a more competitive bidder.
Don’t see net pricing on an item? This means that the seller isn’t offering one at this time - but don’t worry, you can always make an offer, or use the Chairish Messaging feature to see if the seller is willing to extend a discount to the Trade.
Tax Exemption on Trade Purchases
Trade benefits, including tax-exempt purchasing where applicable, are applied when you check out while signed in to a verified trade account and shipping to an eligible address.
Before you buy:
- Sign in to your verified Trade account. Ensure your Trade status is approved.
- Add your tax-exempt documentation (if required) to your account. Make sure it's current and matches your business details.
- Confirm your delivery address. Sales tax is calculated based on the delivery address. Tax exemption applies only in jurisdictions covered by your documentation and our policies.
At checkout:
- Add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout while signed in to your Trade account.
- Enter or select the eligible delivery address covered by your tax exemption. If your account and address qualify, sales tax will be removed automatically on eligible items before you place the order.
- Review the order summary for trade pricing (if applicable) and taxes.
If you are signed into your Trade account, are using the correct delivery address, and have current tax exemption documentation on file and and tax still shows, contact Support before placing your order. We can review your account setup and advise on next steps. In many cases, resolving documentation/address settings will remove tax automatically on eligible orders.
Important notes:
- Eligibility varies by jurisdiction and item. Some items or services may remain taxable by law even for Trade accounts.
- We cannot retroactively apply tax exemption in all cases. It's best to confirm your exemption is active and visible at checkout before you place the order.
- Customer Support cannot manually remove tax on an order during checkout or process payment for you. Your benefits apply automatically when your account and delivery address meet the requirements.
