Benefits of Making Offers
If you're ready to negotiate or want to signal strong interest in an item, the best way to reach the seller is by submitting an offer directly from the listing.
Why we recommend offers:
- Direct line to the seller: Offers notify the seller and open a conversation tied to the listing.
- Flexibility: You can include notes such as preferred delivery timing or questions about the item.

About Making Offers
Make an Offer is available on most products. All offers are "verified offers" which shows the seller that you are serious about purchasing their item:
- The minimum offer must be at least 50% of the listing price.
- Upon submitting an Offer, your credit card will be charged for the full offer amount, including shipping, taxes, and processing fees, where applicable.
- The seller has 72 hours to accept, decline, or counter the verified offer.
- If the seller does not action the offer within 72 hours, you will receive a notification that your offer has expired. You do have the option of submitting your offer again.
- If the seller accepts your offer, you'll be prompted to complete checkout.
- Keep your contact and payment details up to date so you can complete checkout quickly if your offer is accepted.
- If the seller counters your offer, you can review and respond.
- Your funds are also released immediately.
If a seller declines your offer or takes no action and the offer expires, there’s no order to cancel. Any authorization or captured funds tied to the offer are released automatically and return to your payment method within about 3–5 business days. You don’t need to take any further action on your end.
In some cases, the pending offer charges may simply "disappear" from your bank or credit card statement and you will not see a discrete charge and credit.
Limitations
- Customer support cannot contact sellers on your behalf or place holds. All purchase discussions should occur through the Make An Offer feature or any Message Seller/Ask a Question link that appears on the item page.
- Submitting an offer does not automatically reserve or hold the item unless and until the seller accepts and any reservation window shown is active. If time is critical, consider checking out at the listed price.
- Coupon and Discount Codes (including Trade Rewards) cannot be redeemed when making an offer.
How to Make an Offer
To Make an Offer, enter the amount of the offer on the right side of the listing page and then click the Review Offer button.
If available, you can add a message for the seller to share timing needs (for example, asking if they can hold the item if your offer is accepted). Be clear and concise in your message. If you need a short window to complete payment, politely mention it in your offer.
Please note, Coupon and Discount Codes (including Trade Rewards) cannot be redeemed when making an offer.
If the item that you are interested in is available in multiples, simply change the quantity by hitting the + (or minus) sign until you select the desired number. Enter in the amount you are willing to pay, per item and Chairish will calculate the total you will pay if your offer is accepted. Your Offer Summary will display the item(s) subtotal (number x price per item) plus all shipping, taxes, and applicable fees, for the total amount you will be charged.
Offers can also be made through any of your Chairish messages:
Making Offers to Multiple Sellers
If two different sellers have the same item, you must submit a separate offer on each listing. Offers are seller-specific and cannot be combined across sellers.
Important:
- Each accepted offer is a binding purchase for that specific listing. If you submit offers to multiple sellers and more than one is accepted, you will own all accepted offers.
- Shipping charges are calculated per listing and cannot be combined across different sellers.
Offer Status
Sellers have 72 hours to review offers and then either accept, decline, or counter the offer. You can view the status of your offers, including when they expire, by navigating to your 'My Offers' page.
The order will not appear on your 'My Purchases' page until the offer/counter offer is accepted by both the buyer and seller.
Unavailable Items
An accepted offer or confirmed order reflects the seller’s intent to complete the sale. In rare cases, a seller may later discover that an item is unavailable (for example, due to an inventory sync delay, a simultaneous sale, or damage found during final inspection). How Counter Offers Work
Once you log into your account, you can view your offers within the My Offers page.
If you make a verified offer that is countered by the seller, the funds for your original offer will be released. Depending on your financial institution, the release may take up to 5 days to appear on your account.
- If you accept the seller's counter offer, your card will be charged for the seller's counter offer amount.
- If you decide to counter the seller's counter offer, a new hold will be placed on your card for the amount of your counter offer + fees and shipping.
- If you choose not to accept the seller's counter offer, please do not take action to Accept or Counter. The funds for your original offer will be released.
- If the seller doesn’t accept the counter offer, the funds for your original offer will be released. We will also release funds if the offer expires after the 72 hour expiration window.
Only once an Offer is accepted by both Buyer and Seller, is your card actually charged for the purchase.
The process is the same whether you are making an offer on 1 item or making an offer on a product where more than one is available.
Offer Re-Engagement
If a seller declines your offer, they do have the option to reach out and retroactively accept your offer for up to 30 days. Please note that this will not place a hold on any funds unless you choose to accept, in which case your card will be charged for the agreed-upon price plus shipping and fees.
If you are not interested in this retroactive offer, you can simply click "Got It" to dismiss the notification.
