In accordance with tax laws, the tax liability is determined based on the buyer's location. Location, in this case, is either where you are purchasing from or where the item is delivered. If your order is being delivered to a taxable state, then tax will be added to your order. If your order is being delivered to a non-taxable state, or a state in which you have tax-exempt status, then you will not be charged.
Registering for Tax Exemption
If your business or organization is tax-exempt, you can register your exemption certificate on the Buyer Tax Settings page. If you are exempt in multiple states, please upload a certificate for each state.
Managing Tax Exemption
From the Buyer Tax Settings page, you can also remove old certificates or update expired ones.
Submitting State-Specific Requirements for Exemption
Certain states require an additional step to validate your tax exemption documents. If your tax status is currently “Temporary”, you have 30 days to submit your cover page before your exemption expires. To complete the process, please email copies of your state cover page (which can be downloaded from your buyer's tax setting page) and proof of tax exemption status to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Once we have completed the registration, we will send you a confirmation and the status of your application within the Buyer Tax Settings page will change from "temporary" to "active".
Purchases made while your account is in the "temporary" status will be tax-exempt.
