The 48-Hour Return Policy
The Chairish Buyer Guarantee ensures that you have complete peace of mind when making a purchase on Chairish.
For most items shipped via Parcel shipping or Chairish-Managed shipping, you have a 48-hour window to determine if you are satisfied with your purchase. You must contact us within 48 hours of delivery to be eligible for a return. After this window, all sales are considered final.
For items shipped via Parcel shipping or Chairish-Managed shipping:
- You have 48 hours after delivery to inspect your item.
- You must contact us within this 48-hour window to be eligible for a return. After this period, all sales are final.
- Chairish withholds payment and only releases it to the seller once this 48-hour window has closed.
To protect both parties, Chairish holds your payment and releases it to the seller once the 48-hour return window has expired.
The buyer is responsible for the full cost of outbound shipping, return shipping, and packing charges. These will be deducted from your refund.
All sales are final 48 hours after delivery.

Exceptions
The items below are exceptions to the 48-hour return policy:
- Local Pickup: All sales are final once you or your agent takes possession of the item. To receive a refund, you must refuse the item at the time of pickup. Do not take the item home. Notify support immediately if you refuse an item. Click here to learn more about Local Pickup.
- Seller-Managed Delivery: All sales are final once you or your agent takes possession of the item. To receive a refund, you must refuse the item at the time of delivery. Do not accept the item. - Made-to-Order Items: All sales are final for made-to-order pieces and any items marked "non-refundable" in the product description.
Damaged or Misrepresented Items
If the item you receive is damaged or was misrepresented, those issues are handled separately under the Chairish Buyer Guarantee.

How to Initiate a Return
To start a return, email support@chairish.com with the following:
- Order Number (found in your confirmation email)
- Reason for the return
- Phone Number
- Photos: If the item arrived damaged, include clear photos of the item and the packaging.
Return Shipping Costs
On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of outbound shipping, return shipping, and packing charges. These will be deducted from your refund.
For international orders, buyers are also responsible for all customs duties and taxes, if applicable.
How to Ship an Item Back
There are two options for returning an item. Most returns are arranged through Chairish to ensure correct routing, proper insurance, and tracking. However, self-shipping- where you purchase your own shipping label- is also potentially an option.
Self-Ship Returns
Self-shipping, or using your own label, is not available on every order and requires approval in advance.
To request approval to self-ship a return, reply to your order email thread. We'll confirm if it's allowed for your item and provide the required details if approved.
If self-shipping is approved for your order and you use your own shipping label:
- You are responsible for the package while in transit (ex. loss, damage, insufficient insurance).
- Follow our packing instructions and ship to the exact return address we provide. Include the return authorization details on or in the box.
- For Parcel shipping, items must be shipped within three business days of receiving your return label.
Items must be returned in their original condition. We reserve the right to deduct from the refund, or charge your original payment method, for any damage occurring while in the buyer’s possession.
Chairish Managed Returns
If Chairish is managing your return, do not send the item on your own. Unapproved shipments may be refused or lost, and we may not be able to issue a refund.
- For Parcel shipping, once you receive your pre-paid return label, you must package and ship the item within three business days.
Items must be returned in their original condition. We reserve the right to deduct from the refund, or charge your original payment method, for any damage occurring while in the buyer’s possession.
Refunds
Refunds are issues to your original payment method. Once we process a refund, most banks post the credit within 3–5 business days. You'll receive an email confirmation from us as soon as the refund is issued.
Processing times are controlled by your bank or card issuer and can vary by institution and payment method. Some banks or card issuers may take until the next statement cycle to display the credit, even if they have received it. If you don't see your refund after 5 business days, first check with your bank/card issuer. If it's still not visible, contact us and we'll review the refund details and assist further.
