The Buyer always pays for shipping, unless you have decided to offer free shipping on an item.
The cost of shipping is added to the order during the checkout process, ensuring that the buyer sees the same item price regardless of where they are located. This ensures that there are no unpleasant surprises for either buyer or seller.
Chairish offers flat-rate shipping on all in-home shipping (based on size, weight, fragility) regardless of the buyer's location. If you elect to manage your own shipping, you will need to adopt the same approach. You will not know where the buyer may be located, so your shipping cost needs to apply to any distance. If you are not comfortable with that variability, we strongly encourage you to elect to have Chairish manage the shipping. We will not ask the buyer to subsidize estimated shipping costs, post-sale.
If you have selected "I'd like Chairish to help arrange shipping" we'll assign your item to one of two options based on the size, type, and materials of the item.
- In-home shipping - Chairish manages the selection, booking and payment to the shipper.
- On smaller items (or Parcel), you will receive a prepaid shipping label, and you are responsible for packing and any associated costs. If you need to charge for packing materials, you can add that into your listing, and the fees will be rolled into the shipping costs paid for by the Buyer.
- The packing fees will be passed back to you at the time of payment.
- If you choose to take advantage of the Chairish® Drop Off & Go program, the cost will be deducted, along with our commission, before you receive your payout.
