This article describes the shipping options available to sellers on Chairish, as well as a seller's responsibilities relating to each option.

Selecting a Shipping Method
You will select your shipping method when creating a listing (under section 3, the Logistics'), however some shipping methods may not be available for you to select. The shipping methods that are available to you when you are creating a listing are dependent on various listing attributes, including but not limited to the size, weight, and fragility of the item.
- If the item can be rolled, folded, or disassembled for ease of shipping, you can enter the shipping dimensions to ensure that we assign the lowest cost shipping method. Learn more about properly measuring items for shipping, click here.
- Extremely heavy or bulky items that require special equipment (ex. cranes, etc.) will be declined.
All items listed on Chairish must use either Chairish-Managed Shipping or Seller-Managed Shipping.
- Local Pick Up and Local Delivery are additional options that can be selected.
Regardless of the shipping selection you make, the buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping unless you elect to offer Seller-Managed free shipping.

Chairish-Managed Shipping
We offer Chairish-Managed Shipping precisely so that you don’t need to become an expert in shipping. Most items sold on Chairish utilize Chairish-Managed Shipping. Chairish takes care of all the details, including securing and assigning the shipper, insuring the item against loss or damage, and paying the shipper.
Because Chairish only facilitates sales within the U.S. and Canada, Chairish-Managed Shipping is limited to those regions for the time being.
There are two types of Chairish-Managed Shipping available:

Parcel Delivery
- Shipped via UPS.
- Typically delivered within 10 days of the ship date.
- Packaged item(s) must:
- Weigh less than 150 pounds.
- Be no longer than 108 inches, or
- Length + girth does not exceed 165 inches
- You have two options for packing your item(s):

Chairish® Drop Off and Go
- The shipping cost displayed to the buyer will start at $11, depending on size, weight, value, etc.
- Pack the item yourself
- You have the option to charge the buyer for the cost of packing materials.

In-Home Delivery
- An option for sellers of larger items that are too big to fit into a box.
- Shipment is arranged through vetted local delivery partners.
- All orders are scheduled for pickup with a shipping carrier within 48-hours of the order being placed.
- Most larger items are picked up by the carrier within 15 days of the order being placed.
- Your Item will be delivered into the buyer's home.
- The shipping cost displayed to the buyer will start at $149, depending on product type, value, size and location.
- Local deliveries (within 50 miles) typically take 7-10 days. Deliveries to further locations typically take 3-6 weeks.
- In rare cases when a market is smaller or remote, where the In-Home pickup and delivery frequency is once or twice per month, deliveries may take up to eight weeks.

Seller-Managed Shipping
Seller-Managed shipping provides sellers with an option to make arrangements with a shipper of their choice. With these shipping methods, the seller manages all of the shipping arrangements.
When selecting Seller-Managed Shipping, you will have the option to either charge for shipping or not. If you are charging for shipping, review our guidelines here to ensure you are accounting all of your shipping costs. We will not ask the buyer to subsidize any estimated shipping costs post-sale.
If you used Seller-Managed shipping, the item is not insured by Chairish. Any insurance or declared value coverage must be purchased from and pursued with your chosen carrier. Keep all shipping and packing receipts and ask the recipient to retain packaging; carriers often require these for claims.

Local Pickup (Optional)
This selection confirms that you are willing to have someone come to your physical location (shop or home) to pick up an item. Alternatively, you and the buyer may agree to a handoff in a convenient location. The buyer is responsible for any costs associated with the pick up.
This option is available to you regardless of whether you select to use Chairish-Manager shipping or Seller-Managed shipping. However, you cannot offer Local Pickup as the only available shipping method.
The benefits of Local Pickup include:
- Local pickup allows customers to inspect an item in person and avoid shipping costs- making your item attractive from a cost perspective.
- The buyer is provided with pertinent pickup details directly (including the seller's pick up address and a pick up code) so that pick up arrangements can be coordinated easily between the buyer and seller. We do ask that buyers coordinate pickup within 5 days of purchase so you can plan accordingly.
You do not have to have a physical showroom to sell via Local Pickup, as viewing an item before purchase is not permitted under Chairish policy.
Here is a concise script you can use with prospective buyers looking to preview items:
"Thanks for your interest. Chairish requires a purchase before we can arrange pickup or viewing. To proceed:
- Please place the order on Chairish and choose Local Pickup at checkout.
- After purchase, we'll coordinate a pickup window and location.
- You are welcome to inspect the item at pickup prior to taking possession. If anything is not as described, do not take the item and contact Chairish Support immediately from the pickup location.
- Bring your order confirmation and a photo ID. Pickup must be completed within the agreed timeframe."

Local Delivery (Optional)
When selecting Local Delivery you are committing to pack and deliver items within a defined geographic radius for a fixed price (ex. you can easily drive an item across town, for $25). Chairish sellers selecting this option are committing to curbside delivery at the buyer's location.
This option is available to you regardless of whether you select to use Chairish-Manager shipping or Seller-Managed shipping.
The benefits of Local Delivery include:
- Local Delivery generally enables you to save money on packing and shipping costs, which means less expenses for the customer- making your item attractive from a cost perspective.
- The seller is provided with pertinent delivery details (including the buyer's address) so that delivery arrangements can be coordinated easily between the buyer and seller. We do ask that you coordinate delivery with the buyer within 5 days of purchase.

Seller Responsibilities Prior to Shipping
Regardless of the Shipping Method selected, prepare your item for pickup or drop-off. Ensure the item is:
- Clean and ready for use by the buyer.
- In the same condition as listed. If you uncover any discrepancies, reach out to Chairish Customer Support and we will coordinate with the buyer.
- Free of any items that are not part of the sale- be sure to check those drawers!
- Inclusive of hardware, additional pieces, or instructions, which should be secured and placed together so that nothing is left behind.
- If the item must be uninstalled (ex. chandeliers) or disassembled (ex. bed frames) to move, this must be done before the shippers arrive.
- Sellers are responsible for ensuring the shipping partner assigned to the order, collects the correct item (including all parts and hardware). You may be required to pay additional fees resulting from a failure to do so.
